1. Ship Tracks
Wear
Life on the lanes is difficult, and over time the ship and the crew's equipment suffers damage and day-to-day wear and tear. Regular maintenance of the ship to keep wear under control is a constant and vital task for the crew.
Wear is typically accumulated as a result of jobs, and can be repaired during downtime. Unrepaired wear allows worse Quirks to occur after jobs (see 1.3 Jobs#Quirks).
When the final wear slot is marked, mark 1 core damage, clear the wear track, and then mark any excess wear.
Core Damage
Unlike regular wear, damage to the ship's core systems is significantly more dangerous. Core systems include power, propulsion, and life support, so excessive core damage can easily turn a ship into a floating coffin.
Core damage is accumulated due to excessive wear, and can only be repaired at dry dock.
Unrepaired core damage significantly increases the likelihood of dangerous Quirks occurring after jobs.
Load
Represents load on the ship's systems from modules.
Mark a load each time a new module is added, and clear a load whenever a module is removed. In order to add or remove a module, you must be able to mark or clear a load slot.
The load track includes a warning zone which indicates that the ship's core systems are reaching capacity and must be upgraded soon (see 3.1 Ships#Upgrading Core Class).
Core Class
Represents the power and quality of the ship's core systems, such as reactor, life support, and vital conduits. Upgrading a ship's core class improves the performance of all ship systems and increases the ship power available to modules.
